Synopsis

She saw something she wasn’t supposed to see.

Now keeping her alive is his job.

Heather McAlistair plays it safe. She edits a magazine, sings in the church choir, and likes her life orderly and predictable, right down to the stack of bracelets she fidgets with when her nerves get the better of her.

Then she lands in the wrong place at the wrong time, and doing the one right thing turns her into a witness somebody wants silenced. Safe is over. Staying alive is the new goal.

Detective Kyle Taylor is already having the worst kind of Sunday. The car chase he just ended pulled a boy from his Sunday school class out of a wrecked SUV, and the case spinning out from it could cost him the career he’s poured everything into. The last thing he needs is to fall for a witness.

But Heather’s in real danger, the threat is closer than either of them realizes, and Kyle isn’t the kind of man who walks away.

To get through this, Heather has to tell betrayal from trust and image from truth, and lean on a God who keeps putting one stubborn detective in her path. Kyle has to decide what matters more: clearing his name or protecting the woman who’s gotten under his skin.
