Synopsis

She got lost on the way to work. Now a man is missing, and she’s the last person who saw him.

Sarah Brockman is a gifted architect with a hopeless sense of direction, the kind of woman who can design a building but can’t find the job site. One wrong turn drops her somewhere she shouldn’t be, and the only person who stops to help her is a stranger who promptly vanishes.

When Sarah does the right thing and goes to the police, she turns into the loose end somebody needs to cut. Her firm, her reputation, and her life all slide into the crosshairs.

Fire Captain Joe Romero has spent a month working up the nerve to turn his friendship with Sarah into something more, and between a raging wildfire and a promotion exam, the timing never lands. Then danger finds her first. Joe runs toward what everyone else runs from, and he’s not about to play it safe with the woman he’s quietly fallen for.
