Synopsis

They killed her family to break her…

but a woman like her is not easily broken.

A borrowed badge. A hidden identity.

And a man she should never trust.

Lainee James should be mourning. Instead, she rides under a false identity—disguised as a man and wearing a borrowed marshal’s badge—hunting the men who slaughtered her family. But vengeance is only the beginning. What she uncovers is far darker than she ever imagined.

When a planned ambush ends in betrayal, Lainee is taken—dragged deep into the wilderness and into the hands of men who walk a dangerous line between outlaws and lawmen.

Their leader is the most dangerous of them all.

Ryder Redmond is ruthless to his enemies, relentless in his purpose… and unexpectedly gentle with her. He should be someone she fears. Someone she fights. Instead, he becomes the one man determined to keep her alive—no matter the cost.

As secrets unravel and danger closes in from every side, Lainee is forced to question everything she thought she knew—about the marshals she trusted, the men hunting her, and the truth behind her uncle’s final request.

Because Wallace Flannery isn’t just after her life.

He wants what she carries.

And he will destroy anyone who stands in his way.

Hunted through the wild, betrayed by the honorable, and bound to a man she should never trust, Lainee must decide where her loyalties lie.

Because if the wrong man finds her…

she won’t survive.

And if the right one does…

he may be the greatest danger to her heart.
