Synopsis

A survivor with steel in her veins. A man losing the fight against his darkness. Can love persevere through the impossible?

Everything that Vale loved was torn from her at age sixteen. Several years later, broken inside and out, she has no purpose beyond staying out of the clutches of those who hunt her through the tracker in her blood—desperate for a life that is more than just survival.

Zion is losing the battle against the darkness inside him. And despite finding his Core, being the Horseman of Justice means nothing in the face of everything Vale has suffered—and the guilt of his failure poisons everything. Zion’s mission is to ensure the safety of his Core and deliver the justice that his blood is screaming for—a mission which cannot include tethering her to the very man who failed to protect her when it mattered most.

Thrust into an uneasy partnership with Zion, Vale struggles to accept what she was taught about the prophecy in light of the infuriating contradiction of a man who remains dutifully by her side, yet is determined to keep his distance. Maybe that’s for the best when everyone Vale loves ends up dead. But as danger closes in and every near-death encounter with their pursuers erodes the control they are both desperate to maintain, it becomes harder to deny the growing connection between them.

When the unthinkable comes to pass and all hope seems lost, Vale must confront the horrors of her past and find the strength to fight for the future she wants with Z, persevering in the face of the seemingly impossible.
