Synopsis

Last Christmas, seven-year-old Claire asked Santa for a new dad for Christmas. Her mom has been all alone ever since Claire was born, and all she wanted was to find a good guy to help complete their family and make her mom happy. However, Santa failed to deliver last year, but now she’s given him a whole year to make her wish come true, and she’s convinced that this year Santa is going to bring her exactly what she asked for. Because this year she has a secret weapon, her new friend Zach, who claims to be one of Santa’s helpers, and he’s more than ready to help ease Santa’s workload this Christmas.

Zach has been pining over Chloe for as long as he can remember. The younger brother of Chloe’s best friend’s new husband, Zach, has been part of their friend group for the last decade, but no matter how hard he’s tried to get Chloe to notice him as more than the obnoxious little brother, she still refuses to give him a chance. And he gets it, she was hurt badly by the man who helped create Claire… the only good thing that jerk ever did in Zach’s opinion… but Zach is determined to prove to her that not all men are like her horrible ex, and this year he has his own secret weapon.

Chloe’s daughter, Claire, has agreed to team up with him on what they’ve decided to call “Operation: New Dad for Christmas.” What follows is a parade of silly pranks, accidental disasters, and Parent Trap-level scheming. Will Zach and Claire convince Chloe to open her heart again to the possibility of love this Christmas, or will the relationship Scrooge keep her heart locked up tighter than Ebenezer’s gold?

Trimmings and Trappings is the second book in the Silver Creek Sweethearts Series. As with all of KJ’s stories, this book is a clean romance with emotionally in-depth characters, plenty of laughs, and also difficult situations that the characters navigate with the help of their friends, family, and faith. Each of the Silver Creek Sweethearts books are interconnected standalones and while each book can be enjoyed on its own, for the best reading experience, it is recommended that you read the books in order.
