My best friend Charlie has made us a Senior Year Bucket List. Both of us have flown under the radar in high school, not exactly outcasts, more invisible. My job in my stepmother’s cafe means I have a Cinderella existence and am constantly working, and Charlie would rather play card games and practice the violin. But apparently, this is our year to shine and make some Senior Year Memories.
When Charlie checks off Ask someone on a date and Play mini golf and Get a famous person’s autograph all in one day, I realize I’m seriously lagging behind.
Paris Reid is an up and coming tennis star who left Covington Prep to concentrate on his tennis career. He’s back in town for a few weeks, he’s cute and when he wears his cap backwards, I go weak at the knees. He’s been coming into the cafe every day for a coffee but he’s a bit pretentious, kind of rude and all he talks about is tennis.
But when Charlie reminds me that I’m behind with the List, he has an idea that I ask Paris out. It’s crazy, but it’s also a great plan.
Because if it all goes horribly wrong, I know Paris Reid will soon be leaving town…and I’ll never have to see him again.
