Synopsis

Helen Davenport knows her time is up.

After four fruitless Seasons, her father can no longer afford another. At three-and-twenty, with a meager dowry and no powerful connections, Helen might as well consider herself a spinster.

Yet, Mr. Davenport isn’t ready to give up. Scraping together the funds for one final Season, he sends Helen back to London with a thread of hope.

That hope takes a shocking turn when a morning walk in Hyde Park goes awry, quite literally throwing Helen into the path of a stranger: the enigmatic Mr. Marcellus. Chivalrous and undeniably handsome, he promises to salvage her reputation after scandalous gossip leaves her standing on the edge of ruin.
