Synopsis

I’m in love with my best friend—who just happens to be one of the last dragon shifters in the world.

Yeah. Life just got a whole lot more complicated.

For two years, I’ve suffered through one bad date after another, and for two years, my best friend Roarke has been right there beside me. The problem? I don’t want to date other guys—I want him. But there are two massive issues with that.

One: Roarke is one of only five dragon shifters left in existence. If his species has any hope of survival, he needs to find his true mate and have children. It’s the only way shifters can reproduce—our biochemistry doesn’t work well otherwise.

And two… which is really just an extension of problem number one if we’re keeping score here—I’m broken. I have no scent. That whole magical and beautiful thing that lets mates recognize each other? Yeah, I don’t have it.

I’m a blank slate.
An unpainted masterpiece.
A walking, talking romantic tragedy.

Bummer doesn’t quite cover it. This feels more like what engineers call catastrophic failure.

Then my house gets broken into. And something very precious is stolen from me.

Now Roarke and my Clan are working together to keep me safe from a mysterious shadow shifter, and the combination of my fiercely protective, slightly unhinged Clan and my grumpy-but-devoted best friend leads to some hilarious chaos. Does it help distract me from the fact that I’m scared out of my mind? Yes, yes it does. And does Roarke love being knee-deep in my Clan’s shenanigans? Absolutely not. But he does it for me—and I adore him all the more for it.

I keep hoping that in true romcom style, Roarke and I will get our happily ever after. But this is real life, and I don’t know if there are happily ever afters for a broken bear shifter and a dragon shifter.

To any cupids listening… please help a girl out!
