Maddox
There’s a rat in my gang who seems to have forgotten that rats get fed to the snakes. Finding the rat should be my main focus. Except a woman walked into my office, and now she’s all I can think about. This isn’t the time to allow myself to be distracted or let weakness pull me away from the task at hand. There are way too many souls that rely on me to be cold, cynical, and ruthless when it comes to protecting Willow Street. This place is more than just a neighborhood. It’s my mission in life. Only Mindy makes me forget about everything but her.

Life’s hard, and that’s just the way it is. So, I’m going to party even harder to pretend for a little while that the world isn’t collapsing in around me. My first job doesn’t pay enough to make my bills. With a second job walking dogs in the evenings, I just about skimp by. That is until my landlord decides to up the rent. There’s not enough time in the day for a third job, but that doesn’t stop me from getting one. And there certainly isn’t time for me to moon over my boss. It’s not that he’s the living embodiment of dangerously sexy. Or the fact that his watch is probably worth more than everything I own. Not to mention he owns the coolest piebald snake that I’ve ever seen. It’s the fact that he’s got player written all over that flirty face of his.
There’s no way Maddox can be the one guy that I marry and divorce before I live the rest of my life alone.
