When the stagecoach overturned, she lost everything—even herself.
Nebraska Territory, 1862. A young woman wakes in the wreckage of a stagecoach robbery with no memory of her name, past, or destination. Found by the handsome and protective sheriff of Silver Springs, Elliot Boone, she is taken in by his warm and unconventional family and slowly begins building a new life from nothing.
But the men who left her for dead haven’t forgotten her. And neither has she forgotten them.
As Dorethea Mae pieces together fragments of a life she can’t remember, she discovers something she never expected—a home, a family, and a love she doesn’t feel worthy of. But danger is lurking, and the closer she gets to the truth of who she is, the more she risks losing everything she has found.

This one brought me back to the days of watching Dr. Quinn Medicine woman, with the strong female main character and the western setting. A touch of historical fiction, a dash of romance, with a sprinkling of mystery and you have this gem. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Our sweet Dorthea Mae finds herself the lone survivor of a tragic stagecoach robbery/crash and unfortunately she has no memory of her life before the crash. Enter the handsome sheriff to her rescue with his twin sister and sweet Grandma Cookie. They rally around Dorthea as her only memory is of her name. As the mystery of The Who-done-it unfolds, we find Dorethea learning how to defend herself and becoming a crack shot.
Further mystery unravels when her supposed finance enters the picture.
This one kept me turning the pages and enjoying every chapter. If you enjoy Dr. Quinn, Little House on the Prairie or stories of Annie Oakley, then you might enjoy this one.
It releases October 1st so be sure to add it to your TBR, or better yet, pre-order your copy now on Amazon.
What a debut! I can’t believe that this was Aimee Averett Winmill’s first novel! It’s very well-written, and the story captivates you from the beginning! Not to mention that the characters are wonderful and are definitely the heart and soul of the book! ❤️
I honestly haven’t read many first-person, triple POV novels, but the author masterfully blends these narrative elements into a cohesive and really compelling story! The plot is so intriguing: amnesia, espionage, bandits, and the search, rescue, and escape from more than one all against the backdrop of the 1860s pioneer landscape and birth of the Wild West. I won’t give specifics, but I was deeply invested in the storyline and couldn’t wait to see what happened next!
And while I fell in love with all the characters, Grandma Cookie was by far my favorite. Her tender, tough, and sweet disposition reminded me of my own great-grandmother’s resilience and strength. She is the true pinnacle of a pioneer woman and someone I would love to learn from. Dorethea Mae was also such a wonderful FMC and heroine; her consistent strength and bravery were a testament to her character. Sheriff Boone–Elliott–was also the most kind-hearted MMC and I loved seeing their affection for each other progress! I really just loved the entire family and hope I get to see more from them in the future!
Please add this one to your TBR and/or pre-order today, as it officially releases on October 1! I can’t wait for you to read (and love) it! 😍
