Synopsis

She thought he was homeless. He thought she was insufferable. Turns out, they were both right—and both wrong.

Podiatry nurse Lisa Marsh has been playing it safe ever since her husband’s tragic death three years ago. But when a Thanksgiving Day meltdown forces her to face how much she’s been hiding from life, her sister-in-law issues a challenge: do something meaningful to honor his memory. Lisa’s solution? Help a scruffy, unemployed man at the local community center get back on his feet. Never mind that Pete seems oddly resistant to her excellent advice, or that every time they meet, he’s covered in mud, blood, or mysteriously reeking of whiskey.

Pete has every reason to be offended. He’s not homeless—he’s the director of programs at the Unity Plenkiss Community Center. But between his patchy No-Shave-November beard, a series of slapstick accidents, and Lisa’s spectacular talent for jumping to conclusions, he can’t seem to find the right moment to correct her very wrong assumptions. Especially when her misguided “Pete the Snow Man” project starts creating real jobs for the people he actually serves. How can he confess the truth when she’s accidentally doing so much good?

As Lisa’s small service project snowballs into a full-blown Christmas ministry—complete with reindeer wrangling, inflatable nativity disasters, and the world’s ugliest matching sweaters—she finds herself falling for the man she’s trying to “fix.” But when the truth finally comes out, will Pete’s deception melt their chances at love? Or will these two stubborn do-gooders discover that sometimes the best Christmas miracle is learning to laugh at yourself?
