Knox

By Susan May Warren

This book has been on my to read list for quite a while now and I have no idea why I waited so long! It has everything I want in a clean romance novel. Perfectly written characters, great plot, multiple point of views, and romantic suspense.

I love Knox and how much he fiercely protects and cares about those he loves. He is so easy to want to cheer for even in his grumpy moments and moments where he is trying to sort life out. He is someone you want in your family to take care of things and be your older big brother to rely on.

Kelsey is such a sweetheart and my heart ached with reading about her story and everything that happened to her and what she has to overcome. I love that she found her support from those friends around her that became like family to her. I love that she is able to be vulnerable and find comfort and safety with Knox.

I also love that this book is part of a series where even in book one I am already falling in love with the other members of the Marshal family and that their stories will come next. This is going to be one of those series where it is going to be hard to take a break and read other things too instead of just staying in this world and family forever.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense book with swoony kisses, danger, cowboys, and just a perfectly written book give this one a go!

Physical Intimacy: Lvl 2 (Kissing, Making Out)
Zero Swearing
Christian Aspects (Scriptures/Hymns mentioned along with faith themes)
*Previous sexual assault plays a huge roll along with murder of parents, themes of danger/bombs/injury/fire/guns, mob/gangs….just you know the typical romantic suspense stuff…

Intimacy Levels

Level 1

  • Holding hands/Affectionate touching
  • Compliments/confessing love
  • Low-description kissing
  • Tender embraces/cuddling
  • Blushing and sighing
  • Non-descriptive discussions of sex
  • Established relationships
  • Fade to black if married
  • Any sexual encounters from past only referred to, not described or on-screen

Level 2

  • Touch that signals attraction
  • No touching in underwear zone
  • Long kisses, lightly descriptive
  • Deeper kisses, tongue implied not described
  • Feel warm/flushed
  • Gasping, deep sighs, light growls and groans
  • Thinking/speaking about desire non-descriptive
  • Fade to black for established relationships after a scene that matches this level – but may be unpopular if not married

Level 3

  • Hands moving, still not in underwear zone
  • French kiss with tongue described
  • Make-out sessions still follow guidelines
  • Feel hot, sweating
  • Heavier gasping, groaning, deep growls, panting
  • More frantic and lose some control
  • Male shirt may come off, but nothing else
  • Leg may straddle waist, but no mention of arousal
  • If they lay down together anywhere, use little description of contact/moving
  • May happen in a bedroom or on a bed, but should be interrupted or end with fade to black scene. Keep focus on the emotion.
  • Fade to black should still happen between married couples or at the end of the book between engaged/committed couples.
