Synopsis

What do you do when you wake up married to a total stranger?

Ellax: My wife and oldest son are both dead. My illegitimate son refused my offer to move to Asterion and become my heir, leaving me in a quandary. As a Lead Advisor and an Asterion Elder, I must have an heir. My problems are only worsened when, during a night of drunken spontaneity, I unwittingly marry a human female…and my colleagues decide a marriage between a human and a high-ranking Overlord such as myself might be the perfect way to foster unity between Asterion and our colony on Earth.

I disagree. Vehemently. But we’re being given no choice. And I do need a child…

Lorelai: After two decades of marriage, my husband’s multiple affairs were uncovered and I dropped him like a hot brick, choosing to start a new life as a records keeper onboard an alien space ship. Everything is going well, until I meet a gorgeous alien Overlord who seems as lonely as I am. Poor judgment and too much alcohol result in far more than a one-night stand. Turns out, we’re married, and his peers think we should stay that way. Since we can’t get out of this farce, I suggest a pact. A pregnancy pact. I give him a child. Afterward, he helps me rebuild an independent life when I’m ready.

Everything will be signed, sealed, and witnessed. However, neither of us could possibly imagine our simple bargain would uncover treachery in the Asterion government, a plot to destroy my fellow humans on Earth, and endanger our lives. Either this headstrong divorcée and an arrogant Asterion Elder will learn to trust each other, or we won’t survive long enough to uphold the terms of our pact.
