I write dramas. My characters usually have a lot of history. In my debut there is substance abuse, alcoholism, suicide, grief, and pregnancy loss. I deal with the subjects as sensitively as I can and most of the actual “events” take place off page. But the characters definitely struggle and process those hurts on page.
