Romancing the Artist

By Sally Britton

Inglewood has been one of my all time favorite regency series since it was written and as soon as I heard that Sally was writing Romancing the Artist and making it possible to Return to Inglewood I have been counting down the days until its release!

Oh my goodness was it so worth the wait! Caroline and Edward were just so sweet with each other! I loved the quirks they brought out in each other and how they balanced each other so well. I loved that we got to see Lord Neil as well as so many other people from the Inglewood series. But seeing Lord Neil, or Mr. Duncan, now as Caroline’s Papa just pulled at my heartstrings and I totally teared up. He has always been my favorite character and I have loved seeing him go full circle and watching his daughter’s love story now.

The novel kept me turning page after page from the beginning and I literally finished it in a day. I loved every minute of reading it and it had me giggling, swooning, crying…all the feelings.

If you want a sweet regency romance with heart, family, and just great all around writing give this one a go! It can totally be a standalone if you haven’t read the previous Inglewood series but it was just icing on the cake to already know the stories of the previous characters.

Level 1

  • Holding hands/Affectionate touching
  • Compliments/confessing love
  • Low-description kissing
  • Tender embraces/cuddling
  • Blushing and sighing
  • Non-descriptive discussions of sex
  • Established relationships
  • Fade to black if married
  • Any sexual encounters from past only referred to, not described or on-screen

Level 2

  • Touch that signals attraction
  • No touching in underwear zone
  • Long kisses, lightly descriptive
  • Deeper kisses, tongue implied not described
  • Feel warm/flushed
  • Gasping, deep sighs, light growls and groans
  • Thinking/speaking about desire non-descriptive
  • Fade to black for established relationships after a scene that matches this level – but may be unpopular if not married

Level 3

  • Hands moving, still not in underwear zone
  • French kiss with tongue described
  • Make-out sessions still follow guidelines
  • Feel hot, sweating
  • Heavier gasping, groaning, deep growls, panting
  • More frantic and lose some control
  • Male shirt may come off, but nothing else
  • Leg may straddle waist, but no mention of arousal
  • If they lay down together anywhere, use little description of contact/moving
  • May happen in a bedroom or on a bed, but should be interrupted or end with fade to black scene. Keep focus on the emotion.
  • Fade to black should still happen between married couples or at the end of the book between engaged/committed couples.
